Can Apple Cancel iPhone Orders?

Some users who shopped from Apple last night shared images that their orders were cancelled. So, does Apple have the right to cancel orders? We discussed this issue by consulting Apple’s sales policies.

As a result of the fluctuations in the exchange rate, which had been going on for weeks and experienced at an unprecedented level yesterday, allegations began to come that sales were halted in many sectors in Turkey. But apart from these claims, there was a company that stopped its sales last night: Apple.

Apple, the company with the highest market value in the world, stopped the sales of all its products in Turkey at night. The reason for this was of course predictable: the exchange rate difference. The dollar has experienced such a huge increase in recent weeks that for example, when the Apple MacBook Pro sees 13 TL, it is approximately 4,000 TL compared to the USA, where this device is produced in Turkey. $300 cheaper became available. After that, at night, some users of Apple canceled their orders had been transferred.

Can Apple cancel orders?

Yesterday, Apple started canceling orders without billing, according to complaints from many users, in addition to stopping sales. While this situation does not apply to every user, an official statement from Apple on this issue has not been made yet. But an explanation for why sales may have stopped is in Apple’s Sales Policies ‘Product Availability and Limitations‘ is under the heading:

“Due to the high demand and/or availability of some of our products, Apple may have to limit the amount of products it offers for sale. Trust us that we produce as fast as we can. The quantities that Apple offers for sale at a given moment (Provided that Apple has not accepted your order, even after you place your order) reserves the right to change it.”

The last sentence of the statement shows that Apple may make changes in its stocks at a certain moment. It was stated that the canceled orders in question were also ‘invoiced’, that is, Apple did not fully accept the order. This may have caused some orders to be canceled due to the fact that they were placed at the time of decision. However, it should be noted that there is no definite information.

On the other hand, users who reached Apple were told “Purchased products will be delivered”:

Berkin Ceylan from eGirişim shared the statement that Apple made to users regarding this issue. Ceylan said that he received information from people who shopped and talked to the Apple Support team about the issue. There is no such thing as order cancellation. The purchased items will be delivered.” he shared. It is unclear whether this disclosure also includes the unbilled sales in question.

Sales continue in Apple’s physical stores:

On the other hand, after Apple closed its internet sales, a photo was shared from Apple’s store in Zorlu Center. In the photo, it was seen that there was a long queue in front of the Apple store. It was stated that there is no price increase in the store yet, and that the device can be purchased ‘if stock is available’.
