Bundestag votes for new corona law – green light for traffic light plan – domestic politics

The traffic light plan passes the Bundestag!

After a controversial exchange of blows about the correct Corona course, the soon-to-be-ruling parties SPD, Greens and FDP prevailed with their Bundestag majority. 398 MPs voted in favor, 254 against and 36 abstained, as Bundestag Vice President Aydan Özoguz (SPD) announced.

Means: The “epidemic situation of national scope” is to expire on November 25th, for this purpose the federal states can – by state parliament decision – also take further measures such as mask compulsory or contact restrictions.

And according to the plan, new corona measures are coming. Including: Access rules only for vaccinated, convalescent and tested people (3G) at work and on transport; Test obligations for employees and visitors in nursing homes and clinics.

However, because the law does not go far enough for the Union, it is not yet clear whether the proposal will find a majority in the Federal Council on Friday. She wants to continue to prolong the epidemic emergency.

The vote was preceded by a heated debate in the Bundestag. The Union accused the traffic light parties of not being corona cautious enough. The traffic light accused the Union of only playing games with the epidemic situation – after all, the countries can continue to adopt corona measures.

Today could be the day when it will be decided how Germany will fight the 4th wave. At BILD Live you get all the information and analyzes. Turn on!

▶ ︎ Laughter at the beginning of Katrin Göring-Eckardt’s (Greens) speech: “A very famous Chancellor once said: ‘With your head through the wall doesn’t work – in the end the wall always wins’”. ▶ ︎ Marco Buschmann, Parliamentary Managing Director of the FDP parliamentary group, asked: “Do you want a lockdown for everyone? That would be a punishment for everyone who showed solidarity and had themselves vaccinated ”- even NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (46, CDU), a Union man, said that. By the way, Wüst himself leaves it open whether he would approve the new Infection Protection Act in the Federal Council on Friday.

▶ ︎ Because he does not want to be tested, AfD MP Martin Sichert had to speak from the audience. He railed against the vaccination. It is more dangerous than Corona itself, he said, and reported numbers on vaccinated Corona patients who, according to Union man Stefan Müller, “have no basis”. Despite the booster, Müller had received Corona, which the AfD man used as an alleged example of the fact that the vaccination would not work. Müller, on the other hand, said: “Thank God I was vaccinated!” – because that made the course of his infection very mild.

▶ ︎ Exchange of blows between CDU politician Jan-Marco Luczak and SPD celebrity Karl Lauterbach. Lauterbach intervened to accuse the Union of being responsible for the current Corona situation. Luczak countered: “We would all have served us a lot better if you had not done your work to convince the Prime Ministers of the Union, the SPD and the Greens, but in your own parliamentary group!”

Will the traffic light respond? Luczak brought a special session of the Bundestag into play for next week – in order to prolong the epidemic situation after all …
