In the meetings held by BTK and social media platforms, the steps to be taken during the election process were discussed. According to Ömer Fatih Sayan’s statement, controls on social media will be increased to the highest level before the local elections. The aim is to prevent manipulation and misinformation on social media.
BTK officials; TikTok, YouTube, Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and twitter contacted their representatives. In this context, what should be done within the framework of the election legislation and YSK decisions in the last 48 hours in Turkey was explained.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure underlined that all stakeholders should act responsibly and be careful about posts that may negatively affect the election process. Companies are expected to act within the framework of YSK decisions.
Ömer Fatih Sayan stated in his statement on the subject, “During this process, social media companies stated that they are working 24/7 to ensure their compliance with the election legislation and YSK decisions as quickly and effectively as possible. “All stakeholders, especially global internet actors, must act responsibly in order for the elections to take place in a transparent and manipulation-free environment,” he said.
