As it is known, Hal Finney, who died of ALS in 2014, uses his wife’s Twitter account and rarely tweets so that the account is not automatically closed.
A Bitcoin-Themed Event Will Be Held in Honor of Finney
In the tweet posted from the official account, it was announced that an event will be held in Finney’s honor and it will be named “Running Bitcoin”, Finney’s most famous Tweet about BTC:
“Hi everyone, I’m Fran Finney, wife of Hal Finney, one of the early pioneers of Bitcoin. I would like to inform you about a special event that I organized in honor of my husband. Thank you for your interest and support for Hal… He would love it!
The event is called ‘Running Bitcoin’ and is a half marathon event that will take place from January 1-10. The goal is to get as many people as possible to run or walk the half marathon distance and raise funds for ALS research through BTC donations.
Hal was diagnosed with ALS in 2009. He bravely fought against the disease until he passed away in 2014. We are committed to finding a cure for this devastating disease and any support you can provide will make a huge difference.
