The Bitcoin move came from BTG Pactual, one of Brazil’s major investment banks.
Posting an announcement on its Twitter account, the bank announced that it has launched a new platform that will allow its customers to directly invest in Bitcoin.
This move by the bank has made it the first major financial institution in Brazil to offer direct Bitcoin exposure.
The platform, called MYNT, allows users to buy Bitcoin, while explanations came from the managers.
Roberto Sallouti, CEO of BTG Pactual, told Cointelegraph that the high demand from customers was instrumental in the creation of the MYNT platform.
Noting that MYNT is not just a trading platform, the CEO said, “As a new asset class, we will also have content such as educating and informing our customers about these assets and technologies.” said.
Andre Porthilo, head of digital assets at BTG Pactual, also evaluated the bank’s move. Underlining that they are a licensed bank regulated by the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission and the Central Bank, Porthilo stated that these moves will add credibility to the growing Bitcoin and crypto sector in the country.
