Stuttgart The Bosch Group sees hydrogen technology as indispensable for achieving climate neutrality. And the world’s largest automotive supplier is investing more and more money in the research branch: Bosch is now increasing its investment budget for hydrogen by another billion euros.
Overall, Bosch now wants to invest around 2.5 billion euros in the development and production of its H2 technologies by 2026. So far, the investment plan had provided for 1.5 billion euros by 2024. Under Stefan Hartung, who became CEO of the foundation group at the beginning of 2022, this is the third increase.
The Swabians see hydrogen-powered fuel cells as a beacon of hope for electromobility, especially in heavy-duty traffic. It’s a bet: the company hasn’t spent so much money on an energy issue since its unsuccessful entry into solar cell production. Among the German automotive suppliers, Bosch is the only one with this level of investment.
