Boris Johnson wants to get out of the crisis with Brexit 2.0

London, Brussels After the disastrous result in the local elections, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is trying to get off the political defensive with a new government program. In doing so, he relies on the consequences of Brexit. He promises the British that there will be more freedom and prosperity if there is further separation from the EU.

Brexit 2.0 is also his recipe for solving the smoldering crisis in Northern Ireland: London is again threatening to unilaterally terminate the controversial Northern Ireland Protocol of the Brexit Treaty, thereby risking a trade war with the EU.

The government’s agenda for the next parliamentary term is traditionally read out by the Queen. However, the 96-year-old Elizabeth II had to cancel her appearance on Tuesday for the first time in 59 years, so that Prince Charles’ speech was read out by Johnson – a first for the 73-year-old heir to the throne.
