BMW breaks the wireless charging feature of the iPhone 15 series

The iPhone 15 family, introduced in recent weeks, continues to come to the fore with new problems. Some iPhone 15 users announced that the wireless charging feature is broken in BMW and Toyota brand vehicles.

Users reported that the iPhone 15’s NFC chips malfunctioned after using BMW’s in-car wireless charging. MacRumors obtained an internal Apple memo sent to third-party repair providers this week.

That’s presumably changing, as the statement said that a software update coming later this year should prevent a “small number” of in-car wireless chargers from “temporarily” disabling iPhone 15 NFC chips. Apple has reportedly said that anyone experiencing this issue should not use the wireless charger in their car until a solution is available.

Apple brings a screen feature to its HomePod smart speaker. But when it comes to price, it gets annoying. Here are the details…

In posts on Reddit, the Apple Support community, and MacRumors’ own forums, users complain that BMW wireless chargers break Apple Pay and the BMW digital key feature. BMW appeared to acknowledge the issue earlier this month, when the BMW UK X account responded to a complaint stating that the company was working with Apple to investigate the issue.

It is unknown which models are affected; so for now, if you have a BMW or Toyota Supra with a wireless charger, you may want to avoid using it until the problem is resolved. The tech press reached out to Apple, BMW and Toyota for a statement but did not hear back at the time of publishing.
