Cryptocurrency lending platform BlockFi It fell victim to a security vulnerability on Saturday. Hacks and security vulnerabilities continue to increase in the cryptocurrency market lately.
According to reports, third parties had the opportunity to gain unauthorized access to the BlockFi system and captured some of the customers’ data.
The seized data includes names, email addresses and phone numbers. Although all the data of the company’s customers cannot be stolen, it is thought that the data of the majority of the customers has been compromised.
How Did the Vulnerability in BlockFi Occur?
BlockFi reported that the platform is facing a security breach that occurred Friday through one of its third-party vendors, Hubspot.
Hubspot is known as a sales management platform. The company announced in its tweet thread that internal systems and most importantly, customers’ funds were not affected by the attacks.

The firm also highlighted that an ongoing investigation is underway to understand the full extent of the impact of the data breach.
The company announced that, in line with its transparency principle, it informs customers about these data breaches before using the information obtained by malicious people to the detriment of customers.
The company stated that it is aware of the importance of every passing minute and continues its investigation.
In addition, the company announced that its customers do not need to take any action for the time being.
