Dusseldorf The general unrest on the stock exchanges has also dragged cryptocurrencies down with it: Despite a slight recovery in the past few days, Bitcoin has lost almost 50 percent of its value since its all-time high in mid-November.
More and more investors now want to know: In view of the immense volatility, is Bitcoin really the safe store of value and the “digital gold” that its proponents call it? Or has there been a huge speculative bubble in recent years that is now threatening to burst?
The “Handelsblatt Today” podcast has invited two experts to a debate: Bitcoin millionaire and crypto influencer Kiarash Hossainpour (“Kyle Hoss”) and cultural and media scientist, blogger and bitter Bitcoin opponent Michael Seemann. While Hossainpour believes bitcoin has yet to reach its full value potential, Seemann sees no value in bitcoin “that would go beyond hot air.”
