Bitcoin falls below $19,000 – yearly low could be tested soon

Dusseldorf The prospect of rising interest rates and the strong US dollar are putting pressure on the crypto market. Bitcoin fell below $19,000 on Wednesday, hitting its lowest level in ten weeks. Even the annual low of around $17,700 on June 18 is now coming into focus.

Bitcoin lost more than five percent on Wednesday over a 24-hour period. According to data from the analysis company Coinmarketcap, it was last listed at just under $18,800. In the case of the second-largest cryptocurrency, ether, the losses are even greater at eight percent. Here the course was last at around 1500 dollars.

The movement is similar on the entire crypto market: the market capitalization of all cyber currencies fell by around five percent to $ 940 billion – the lowest value since mid-July. During the boom, in November 2021, it was almost three trillion dollars.
