Dusseldorf The negative trend in Bitcoin continues. On Monday, the most important cryptocurrency fell below the $ 40,000 mark for the first time since September 2021. Most recently, the price recovered to a good $ 41,000. Since the record high of almost 69,000 dollars in November, the cyber currency has lost more than 40 percent of its value.

Other cryptocurrencies have also come under pressure, according to data from the analysis company Coinmarketcap. Ether fell below the $ 3,000 mark for the first time since the beginning of October, and the market capitalization of the entire crypto market fell by a peak of $ 125 billion, or six percent.

Observers see the reason for the negative trend in the imminent turnaround in monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve. This could raise interest rates three or even four times this year and begin to melt away its total assets – this would deprive the market of liquidity.
