Binance Manager Nadeem Anjarwalla in Kenya Faces Extradition to Nigeria

Reports indicate that Nigerian authorities have located Anjarwalla in Kenya and are currently cooperating with Kenyan authorities to facilitate his return to Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Daily Post newspaper first reported the news, citing government sources, and stated that Anjarwalla’s extradition could take place within the week.

Later, another Nigerian newspaper, The Punch, citing unnamed government sources, further confirmed the possibility of Anjarwalla’s imminent return to Nigeria through the international criminal police organization (INTERPOL).

Anjarwalla and another Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan, were detained by Nigerian authorities in February over allegations of manipulating the local exchange rate, tax evasion and money laundering against the cryptocurrency exchange.

While Gambaryan remains in Nigeria and pleaded not guilty to money laundering charges at a court hearing in April, Anjarwalla, a dual British and Kenyan citizen, reportedly fled the country in March using a secret Kenyan passport.

The developments surrounding Anjarwalla’s extradition underscore the intense legal scrutiny faced by cryptocurrency exchanges operating in various jurisdictions and underscore the complexity of cross-border legal proceedings in cases involving individuals with dual citizenship.
