Munich, Mannheim The industrial service provider Bilfinger struck gold when looking for a new boss. Thomas Schulz will take over the management of the SDax-listed company with effect from March 1, 2022, Bilfinger announced on Wednesday evening in Mannheim.

The 56-year-old is still employed by the Danish service provider for the mining and cement industry, FLSmidth, until the end of February. FLSmidth released Schulz prematurely from his contract.

Bilfinger is currently led by interim boss Christina Johansson after Tom Blades unexpectedly resigned from his position at the beginning of the year. But she had always made it clear that she did not see herself as a permanent solution at the top of the company. Blades had heavily rebuilt the company in the years before. Bilfinger had been looking for a new CEO for almost a year.

Schulz is a mining engineer and has spent practically his entire professional life in Scandinavia. Before he was head of FLSmidth, he worked for the Swedish machine and tool manufacturer Sandvik.
