As a child, bestselling author Peter Prange (66, “Our wonderful years”) had a big dream: he wanted to become a successful show jumper.

Prange to BILD: “I fell off my horse for the first time when I was two and a half years old. My cousin wanted to go on the horse, but then got scared and began to fidget, so that we both tumbled off the horse. My cousin had a hole in his head afterwards, but for me it was the beginning of my riding career. “

His family had their own horse before they had their own car, Prange recalls. From the age of eight he rode properly.

But then Prange took a liking to hemp and deviated from his original plan: “At the age of 15, I smoked weed like a world champion.” After getting so drunk when he was 17, he collapsed after a circulatory collapse.

“I collapsed in front of the door of the health department, of all places. Crawling on all fours, I made my way into the bushes. From that day I was cured. “

To this day, Prange still rides regularly. But only if he gets stuck in writing his complex historical novels (sold circulation: almost three million books).
