Audi bids farewell to internal combustion engines!
The German automaker shared details about its future plans in its press release. Accordingly, Audi will begin production of electric vehicles at its global facilities by 2030, before the planned phase-out of internal combustion models.
Audi, which aims to launch only electric cars globally from 2026, will gradually end the production of models with internal combustion engines by 2033. Until this date, models with conventional power units and electric vehicles will be produced in the same factory.

The automaker’s Ingolstadt plant in Germany will begin production of the Q6 E-Tron SUV next year. Audi plans to produce electrified models at its factories in Neckarsulm (Germany), San José Chiapa (Mexico) and Gyor (Hungary). The German manufacturer said in a statement that by 2029, it wants to produce at least 1 electric model in each of its global factories, depending on local conditions.
Unlike other brands, Audi does not separate the production of electric vehicles from models with internal combustion engines. The only exception will be in China. Going into partnership with the Chinese company FAW, Audi will produce only electric models at the plant, whose construction will be completed in 2024 in Changchun, China.
In light of new developments, Audi will not introduce a new global model with an internal combustion engine after 2026. Afterwards, the German manufacturer will gradually increase the production rate of electric cars in all its factories.
