Are the S-400s shelved? – ShiftDelete.Net

Defense Industry President İsmail Demir made some important statements in the television program he attended. Here, Bayraktar shared the developments about Kızılelma, Akıncı, Trench Air Defense System, Gökbey, Hürjet, MMU and Atak 2 projects. Here are the details…

Trench Air Defense System will reach S-400 level in 3 years!

The Trench Air Defense System will first enter the inventory in 2023. In this way, Turkey will be able to produce self-sufficient layered defense systems with domestic means, apart from ballistic missile protection. However, it is expected to move to the next level in the near future.

Because the President of Defense Industries, İsmail Demir, confirmed this in his latest statement. It is said that the Trench Block 2 or Block 3 systems, which will be put into service between 2026 and 2027, will be in the S-400 setting. It will even surpass the SAMP-T. So what does a layered air defense system mean and which ones can Turkey produce on its own?

Baykar's record in world history!

Baykar’s record in world history!

Baykar broke a new record in the world with Bayraktar TB2 production number. Moreover, it is opening a new factory to keep up with the orders.

If you wish, let’s look at the characteristics of 6 different domestic systems that Turkey has in order to explain the situation. KORKUT is in the first place. This HSS (Air Defense System) is mounted on an armored tracked vehicle. It is equipped with a 35 mm KDC-02 type double-barreled weapon system. It can provide effective protection against all aircraft within 4 km by making 1100 beats per minute.

SUNGUR comes right after. This HSS was built on an armored vehicle, again keeping mobility at the forefront. It can hit all targets within 8 kilometers with Roketsan-signed missiles. Afterwards, we switch to slightly more high-tech systems.

The HİSAR family begins here. In the first step, HİSAR A+ has a minimum range of 2 km and a maximum range of 15 km. HİSAR O+, which is in second place, has a minimum range of 3 km and a maximum range of 25 km. In fact, the range of HİSAR RF (Radar seeker head), which is the latest developed version, is up to 35 kilometers.

In the last layer, there is the Air Defense System, which was initially developed under the name HİSAR U, but later known as SİPER. In the version of SİPER, which appears as Blok1, the minimum range is 30 km, and the maximum range is exactly 100 km. Of course, the range will be increased to 150 km and above with Blok2 and Blok3 which will be taken into inventory in the second and third stages.

Its biggest rival will be the Patriot, with the PAC-1 and PAC-3 versions having a range of 20 to 70 kilometers, and the PAC-2 with a range of 160 kilometers. However, the coverage range of the radar used in this HSS is only 150 km. There are 2 different radars that are planned to be used in SİPER.

It is said that the first of these is 600 km Long Range and Land Based Air Defense Radar. The other is the ÇAFRAD radar with a range of 450+ km and the ability to track 1000+ targets at the same time, which will be located on the TF-2000 destroyer ship, with the project model creation and feasibility studies continuing.

Therefore, when this system enters the inventory in 2023, it will sit in a position between the Patriot and the S-400. Turkey’s layered Air Defense System will be fully protected. However, as stated, between 2026 and 2027, with the entry of Block 2 and Block 3 into the inventory, the S-400s can be shelved completely.
