According to a paper by the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) published in March, China has massively upgraded its nuclear power in recent years. According to estimates by independent experts from the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), the People’s Republic had over 200 nuclear warheads in 2008 – and thus fewer than France or Great Britain – by 2020 the arsenal had grown to 350 warheads.
