Apple Removes Crypto Wallet App TokenPocket from App Store

The crypto wallet application TokenPocket in the App Store received a complaint due to the similarity in its logo, and Apple accepted this complaint as positive and removed the relevant application from the store.

On November 4, 2021, Apple officially announced that it has temporarily removed the TokenPocket wallet from the App Store. According to Apple, the reason the app was removed from the store is linked to a trademark issue from PayPal.

PayPal, the world’s leading payment company, has had a trademark issue with TokenPocket since earlier this year and notified its lawyers to resolve the issue. However, in the intervening period, the commercial problem between them and TokenPocket has not been resolved, and PayPal does not seem to have let go of the company. The problem started because the implementation of the TokenPocket app was similar to PayPal.

Meanwhile, TokenPocket also confirmed that it received a letter from PayPal earlier this year regarding the trademark issue. The crypto wallet continues to insist that they are willing to amicably resolve issues with PayPal.

Although TokenPocket does not clearly state the reason for the complaint, it is known that the problem is caused by the similarity in the logo. The company announced that it also sought the opinions of experts in order to clearly identify this problem.

So far, PayPal and TokenPocket have not made any official statements regarding this new development.

TokenPocket was founded in 2018 and has supported Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polkadot Kusama, BSC and much more since its inception. The firm now has tens of millions of users in more than 200 countries.

It did not go unnoticed that PayPal had such a branding problem after stepping into the crypto money industry at the end of last year.
