According to the information revealed today, Apple made a record payment of $ 60 billion. Here are the details…

Apple to take another $30 million out of its vault

In recent years, Apple employees have sued the company for bag searches outside of working hours. Although the hearing on the matter will take place in July, Apple detailed the terms of the $29.9 million agreement it accepted.

However, it did allow claimants (and everyone else) to access case-related documents on the legal website. Looking at the documentation, we see that it contains everything necessary, from the original class action complaint to settlement notices and different types of group members. In addition, additional information is shared on how to contact the settlement manager.

A group of Apple employees sued the company in 2013 for failing to pay for the five to 20 minutes it took to check their bags during their shift or on the way to work. They argued that by doing so, Apple violated California law.

In response, Apple said in court that bag checks were necessary to ensure workers weren’t left with stolen goods or trade secrets. He also stated that the problem would be resolved if those who did not like the policy did not bring their bags or iPhones to work. But in 2015, it decided to stop employee searches altogether.

While a district court initially dismissed the case, the case went to the California Supreme Court on appeal. Here the judge sided with the plaintiffs. As previously disclosed in a court filing, the case involved 14,683 workers who underwent bag checks at 52 Apple Stores in California from July 25, 2009 to August 10, 2015. Therefore, each will receive a share of $1286 from the settlement amount.
