iPad Air 5 squeaks: Apple stole material?

iPad Air, one of Apple’s popular tablet models, went on sale on March 18 with the 5th model of the series. However, many US customers who purchased the device state that they have requested a return. The biggest reason for this was that they found the build quality to be very low compared to its predecessor.

Complaints voiced by users, especially on Reddit, stem from the fact that the aluminum surface used by Apple in the new iPad Air 5 model is much thinner than the iPad Air 4. For this reason, it is said that when holding the device in hand, you can almost feel the battery on the back and squeaks when touching the screen or around the device and pressing lightly.

The user named u/mezzox33142, who made the first post on Reddit on the subject, said:

Today I ordered two blue iPad Air 2022 and it arrived. I was a little shocked. The aluminum backplate is much thinner than the iPad 4 I have. You can almost feel the battery from the plate when you hold the device. Both iPads feel the same and make squeaky noises when you hold them. I didn’t have this iPad Air 4. I am returning both. But I wonder if it’s just the ones that come to me this way.

After this sharing, hundreds of people stated that they encountered similar problems. Interestingly, since most of them ordered the blue iPad, a separate discussion started about whether this could be the source of the problem.
