Apple and Qualcomm extend 5G modem deal

Apple has been supporting 5G technology in iPhone models since 2020. We know that the company, which has been using Qualcomm chips for about three years, has developed its own 5G modems. However, in an unexpected move, the 5G modem agreement between Qualcomm and Apple was extended until 2026.

Apple has announced that its partnership with Qualcomm has been extended and will continue to use Snapdragon 5G modems for the next three years. With this agreement, Apple’s 5G chips seem to be delayed until 2027.

Until the deal was announced, it was speculated that the iPhone 15 would be the last model to include the Snapdragon 5G chip. However, Qualcomm stated that it has extended the agreement with Apple and that its own chip will be used in iPhone models that will be released until 2026.
