An Operation Has Been Held To Produce Cryptocurrency Using Public Resources in China’s Zhejiang Province

As a result of the investigation carried out in the Chinese province of Zhejiang, it was determined that some government offices were illegally used to mine bitcoin, ether and other cryptocurrencies.

Authorities in Zhejiang are trying to prevent individuals who mine cryptocurrencies in Communist Party-affiliated institutions and government offices, state-owned enterprises and research institutes. at the beginning of last month started an investigation.

Since then, 4,699 IP addresses suspected of mining cryptocurrencies have been investigated, while 184 IP addresses in 77 units may have been mining using public resources, the Zhejiang Cyberspace Administration said on Thursday.

Local authorities audited 20 apartments that were found to be linked to 119 IP addresses. While it was announced that more than 10 cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin and ether, were mined in these official offices, it was reported that legal proceedings were initiated against some individuals.
