America’s right is courting blacks – with the help of Kanye West

Washington The former hip-hop star Kanye West has recently been banned from the established platforms Twitter and Instagram. But West, who officially changed his name to Ye in 2021, could soon own his own social network and take over right-wing platform Parler, it was revealed this week.

West joins a ranks of rich men who are getting into the social media business in order to strengthen what they see as “freedom of expression”: Ex-President Donald Trump with his network Truth Social or Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whose Interest in Twitter has reignited after a failed attempt.

But West’s new career as a digital entrepreneur is part of the massive right-wing PR machine that is increasingly affecting American politics. The 45-year-old black musician and designer is becoming more and more extreme in public, and he doesn’t seem to have much in common with his former self.
