Amazon suspends streaming services in Russia!

Russia is paying the price of the war against Ukraine with economic and technological sanctions. On the other hand, the world’s leading technology, banking and digital publishing companies apply various embargoes. Amazon, on the other hand, continued its presence in Russia with its streaming services such as Twitch and Prime Video. But this is over.

Twitch cut the bread of Russian broadcasters!

Twitch has announced that payments to Russian broadcasters will not be made as long as Russia’s war against Ukraine continues.

Amazon Prime Video ends access to Russia!

Amazon announced on February 8 that payments to Twitch streamers will cease. Today, Netflix said it is ending access from Russia for its rival Amazon Prime Video streaming service.

Amazon Prime Video

In addition, Amazon announced that the company’s retail sales are also indefinitely suspending shipments from both Russia and Belarus. It also stated that new Prime customers and memberships from 3rd party vendors will not be accepted.

In the joint statement made by Amazon and Prime Video, it was as follows:

Given the ongoing situation in Russia and Ukraine, we have taken additional measures in the region. As a reminder, unlike some other US technology providers, Amazon and AWS do not have data centers, infrastructure or offices in Russia. We also have a long-standing policy of not doing business with the Russian government.

Amazon Prime Video

In the past week, Amazon said that AWS is communicating and collaborating with its customers in Ukraine to keep all their applications safe. He also announced that they are sharing real-time intelligence with Ukrainian IT companies to prevent attacks.

This statement by Prime Video came right after its biggest rival, Netflix, announced that it had suspended all its services in Russia indefinitely. But Amazon has repeatedly stated that the cooperation with the Russian side is rather weak.
