Three management consultancies have developed strategies for how a daily business newspaper deals with AI – and how it can grow.

Dusseldorf Artificially intelligent software (AI) is already changing how we consume media, how we obtain information – and how money can be made with journalism. It’s a new reality that media companies like the Handelsblatt Media Group have to adapt to quickly.

Why is that important?

“New AI tools simplify the generation of content enormously,” writes the management consultancy Alexander Thamm. “It is to be feared that the Internet will be flooded with texts, images and videos, often of poor quality. In addition, there are fake news or images created intentionally for manipulation.”

The photo of the cloud of smoke at the Pentagon shows how critical this development is: When the picture circulated online for a short time in May, many believed it was an attack on the US Department of Defense. Even the US stock index S&P 500 fell briefly on the stock exchange. The fake photo wasn’t even particularly well done.
