After a roller coaster ride, Dax starts with strong price gains on Thursday

Frankfurt The Dax starts trading with significant price gains. Shortly after opening, it was up around 1.1 percent at 12,490 points after a rollercoaster ride on Thursday. This was triggered by higher-than-expected inflation figures in the USA. These initially led to a drastic price collapse. The Dax turned negative shortly after the figures were published and lost almost 300 points, and the US markets also started trading with significant losses. They later recovered and recorded large price gains.

The Dax closed up 1.5 percent on Thursday, and the Dow Jones also gained 1.5 percent. “This is one of those trading days where you would have really lost a lot of money if you read the news [zu den US-Inflationszahlen, Anm. d. Red.] would have had in advance,” commented the longtime head of investment bank Goldman Sachs, Lloyd Blankfein, on Twitter.
