Dusseldorf, Frankfurt They are called Roche, Hotgen or Lepu Medical – 600 corona tests are on the market in Germany. For the layperson, the situation is confusing as to which quick and self-tests can reliably detect the corona virus and which cannot.
Consumer and patient advocates warn that a large part is not satisfactory. The skepticism is fundamentally appropriate. Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) is therefore having a positive list drawn up which tests can also identify the new, highly contagious omicron variant.
The Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) has already evaluated 245 tests. Result: Around 20 percent of them do not achieve the required quality.
