a popular altcoin with a project Aptos (APT), became the target of a malicious attack on his official Twitter account.
Hackers, APT Ethereum published a fake announcement claiming to be launched on the blockchain and offering a free airdrop of 5% of the total supply to first users who request it.
In the tweet shared today, hackers used the following statements about the fake airdrop:
“Because our first APT airdrop went so well, we decided to launch an APT token on the Ethereum blockchain.
5% of the total supply can be claimed for free, first come winner. You have until July 7 to make a claim.”
The tweet also includes a link to a fake website that asks users to enter their Ethereum address and private key to claim the airdrop.
However, this is a classic phishing scam that aims to steal users’ funds and personal information. Anyone following the link and entering their credentials will lose access to their wallet and risk losing all their assets.
At the time of this writing, the fake link in the official Aptos altcoin account was still clearly visible.
