While it was stated that ChatGPT has been on Apple’s list of restricted software for a long time, company employees were also warned not to use Copilot, GitHub’s artificial intelligence programming assistant. This application will also apply to other AI-powered chatbots.

Apple has valid reasons to take precautions against artificial intelligence systems. OpenAI stores all interactions between users and ChatGPT so that the artificial intelligence system can evolve. Given the usefulness of ChatGPT for developing code and generating new ideas, it’s quite normal for Apple to be concerned about confidential project information being entered into the system. This information can then be viewed by OpenAI moderators.
On the other hand, OpenAI added a new feature in April that allows users to remove their chat history. However, even when this feature is actively used, OpenAI can keep the entered data for 30 days for review for abuse.
While Apple restricts its employees on ChatGPT, it also showed that it does not completely turn its back on artificial intelligence by offering the iOS version of the application.
