This amount of energy could power nearly 2,000 homes for an entire day. Recycling unwanted pumpkins is crucial to prevent them from ending up in landfills, where they decompose and release methane.

“Last year we saw a large increase in food waste tonnage in our facilities in the week immediately following Halloween, with pumpkins accounting for the majority of this food waste, weighing an average of 4 kilograms each.”
