Cardano founder and developer Charles Hoskinson predicts that governments will restrict Non-Fungible tokens (NFTs) in 2022 and beyond, similar to what they have done with Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs).
Hoskinson made several predictions while talking about the Cardano project and the purely crypto industry in a YouTube video he shared hours before 2022. Expressing his confidence that 2022 will be one of the best years for Cardano, he underlined that the system has made a lot of progress with affiliates and community projects.
The famous mathematician said that 120,000 people attended the Cardano summit in 2021 and that people saw how the ecosystem works for them. He also stated that the market is growing very fast and said that “we as an industry will digest the good or bad results of such rapid growth”.
Hoskinson’s prediction of Ripple and NFT
Among some of the predictions he made in the video, he said “we will probably reach a decision regarding the Ripple case” while underlining that at this point it seems like Ripple will win.
Speaking about NFTs, Hoskinson said that in 2022 and beyond, we will see a lot of regulatory engagement in the industry, especially restricting DeFi and NFTs. At this point he gave an example of what ICOs are and how regulators are targeting them in 2018 and 2019.
Recently, Hoskinson, while talking about Cardano’s 2022 plans, revealed that two million assets have been released in Cardano, mostly NFTs. He added that currently more than 127 projects have written code to build decentralized applications (dApps) on the network, with about 20 to 30 projects to be released in the next three months.
