100 units of HÜRJET will be produced: Engine orders have been placed!

Many projects have been implemented with the indigenization movement in Turkey’s defense industry. One of them is the HÜRJET project, a domestic light attack and training aircraft carried out by TAI and the Presidency of Defense Industries. After the first aircraft produced and exhibited within the scope of the project, orders for engines began to be placed. Here are the details…

100 F404 jet engines for HÜRJET!

HÜRJET was designed to meet the Turkish Air Force’s need for military attack jet aircraft after training at the first stage. In the HÜRJET project, which was produced within this scope, 3 prototypes have been produced at the moment. In addition, HURJET successfully carried out its first flight test last April. While work continues on behalf of mass production, it was also announced how many F404 engines were ordered for HURJET today.

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) CEO Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil stated that 100 orders were placed for the General Electric GE F404 engine used in the aircraft for the production of HÜRJET by TAI. As you can imagine, 100 motors means 100 HURJET. With this order, TAI has also shown that it will unload 100 HURJETs from the band in the first place.

Türkiye started production: 2 MMU KAAN on the way!

The engines are currently American made and carry the General Electric logos. However, in the future, TEI will deal with the issue. With the agreement to be made with General Electric GE, TEI will produce F404 engines in Turkey. In this way, the aircraft will have domestically produced engines. In addition, Temel Kotil stated that in 2028, the domestic jet engine that TUSAŞ has been working on for 2 years will be mounted on the MMU KAAN and will fly with domestic engines.
