Zilliqa Team Sets Date for EVM Compatibility, Explains What Will Change

Zilliqa has announced that Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility will be launched on its mainnet on April 25, 2023.

With this development, Zilliqa will be able to offer a more comprehensive ecosystem to blockchain developers and users will be able to use popular wallets such as MetaMask with the Zilliqa ecosystem.

With EVM compatibility, users will be able to transfer local ZILs using MetaMask and deploy Solidity smart contracts using tools like Truffle and Hardhat.

Valeriy Zamaraiev, Head of Zilliqa Distributed System Engineering, stated that this is a full and complete implementation of EVM compatibility with all APIs, and most dApps will not require any adaptation.

The team also explained that they are focusing on making EVM specific to their ecosystem to provide a better implementation than many layer-2 blockchains. Zilliqa’s EVM compatibility will also provide extensive support for API libraries such as Ethers.js and Web3.js.

After releasing EVM compatibility on the mainnet, the developer team will focus on implementing interoperability between Scilla and Solidity standards, including ERC-20 and ZRC-2 for fungible tokens and ERC-721 and ZRC-6 for NFTs.

The team has all ZRC-2 on the platform to cryptocurrencies It aims to add ERC-20 compatibility.
