A new study by UK-based GSM operator Three has revealed that bringing smartphones to matches can be dangerous. According to the survey results, the rate of damaging the phone during the match among football fans is around 30 percent.
59 per cent of fans surveyed by Three admitted to breaking their smartphone at least once before a match. The most common types of damage include a cracked screen at 51 percent, a crush/scratch at 42 percent, and a liquid spill at 20 percent.

The research revealed that taking a phone to the stadium invites all kinds of accidents. However, it seems that the risk is not limited to stadiums. Celebrations around the stadium can also be dangerous. Accordingly, 38 percent of the reported damages occurred around the stadium.
Even watching the match at home can sometimes cause broken phones. Accordingly, 20 percent of the fans stated that they damaged their phones while watching the match in the living room.
Research shows smartphones can still cost football fans a lot, despite cases and screen protectors. In this context, it is recommended to check phones twice while watching Euro 2024 matches.
