Schäuble was elected to the Bundestag on November 19, 1972 and has been a member of Parliament without interruption ever since. Half a century in which the CDU politician was, among other things, head of the chancellery, interior minister, finance minister and finally the president of the Bundestag. But the current crises also frighten the 80-year-old. He has never experienced such a threatening situation as he is at the moment, says Schäuble in an interview with the Handelsblatt.
