WM: DFB replaces Rewe with OneLove! | Sports

Rewe out, OneLove on it!

BILD learned: The DFB has in the training center “Al Shamal” in Qatar removed its dropped sponsor Rewe from the advertising boards. Instead, the “One Love” logo is now emblazoned behind players and coaches in interviews and press conferences. At 10 a.m. today, Julian Brandt (26) and Kai Havertz (23) will first speak at the press conference in front of the new gang.

When asked by BILD, the DFB said: “Due to a partner’s decision to forego advertising six weeks before the actual end of the contract, the DFB was given the opportunity, also at the almost daily press conferences in Qatar, with the “One Love “-message to express his attitude.”

Background: After the DFB decision against the “One Love” captain’s armband before the 1: 2 At the start of the World Cup against Japan, the food chain ended its cooperation with the DFB with immediate effect. From today, at the beginning of the second preliminary round matchday, the FIFA regulations should now also allow the LGBTQ+ colors.

The DFB now used this for themselves!

Captain Manuel Neuer (36) actually wanted to wear the armband against Japan as a sign against the homophobic Qatar sheikhs, but the DFB had caved in because of the threat of penalties from FIFA (yellow card to loss of points). It is still unclear whether the bandage can now also be worn on the pitch.

Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (52/SPD) sat in the stands with a OneLove armband on her arm during the game against Japan. ZDF commentator Claudia Neumann (58) wore a black shirt with a heart in rainbow colors during the game between the USA and Wales.

The security forces in the stadiums had repeatedly removed clothing with the OneLove logo or rainbow colors from fans. In the meantime, Fifa is said to have informed them that they would refrain from enforcing the ban.
