Berlin The second stop on his tour of the federal states in Munich is likely to be the most delicate for the new Federal Economics and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck (Greens). The Bavarian state government immediately criticized his plans to expand renewable energies.

But now surprising statements are coming from Munich. The Bavarian Economics Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) is partly behind Habeck on a crucial issue.

It is about the important so-called 10H regulation in Bavaria, which states that wind turbines must be at least ten times the height of residential buildings. So if a wind turbine is 200 meters high, it must be two kilometers away from the nearest houses.

10H is the strictest distance rule in all of Germany. “It doesn’t always have to be 10H, often a distance of 1200 to 1500 meters is enough,” Aiwanger told the Handelsblatt. He therefore advocates exceptions.
