Berlin Will Russia deliver gas again in the next few days or not? After July 21, the annual ten-day maintenance of the Baltic Sea pipeline Nord Stream 1 ends and the gas could flow again – actually. Because the fear is growing that Russia will use the future of the gas pipeline as a weapon in the sanctions war with the western states. After all, the Russian state-owned company Gazprom had already reduced deliveries via Nord Stream 1 by 60 percent before the maintenance.

The federal government wants to wait at least until next Monday to see how Russia behaves, the Handelsblatt learned from government circles.

Statements by Gazprom officials give little information as to whether the review will be completed in a timely manner or whether Russia is allowing it to continue indefinitely as a pretext and thus de facto imposing a delivery stop.
