Panem et circenses – the Romans already knew how the game was going. Emperors like Julius Caesar influenced the people with “bread and circus games”. The Colosseum in Rome is impressive evidence of a culture of influence.

Tesla founder Elon Musk has also mastered the tricks of the ancient Romans. He invited to the Gigafest on the premises of the new factory in Grünheide, there was a lot to eat and a lot to see. The new Model Y was allowed to drive, and the factory and construction site could be visited.

An unusual gesture by a company that otherwise tends to keep a low profile and shut itself off from the outside world. There were no such festivals in Shanghai or Austin, where new works were or are being created.

There, however, nobody was upset about felled trees or worried about the sand lizards’ home. Objections and complaints from environmental associations, activists and residents shaped the image of the factory in Grünheide in the media for many months.
