Monkeypox, a febrile and smallpox-like disease, is currently spreading around the world. The USA has now declared a national health emergency because of the “monkey pox” (abbreviated to MPX). According to the US health authority CDC, as of Friday, there are around 27,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox worldwide. In relation to the population, most infections were registered in Spain with around 79 cases per million people. Portugal follows with around 62 and the Netherlands with around 50 cases per million. With a value of around 31, Germany is in the middle range. 2839 cases were confirmed as of Friday.
