Not only that the Tesla plant is being built in Grünheide, the BER airport was opened after years of delays and BASF wants to start up its new cathode factory in Schwarzheide soon. Now the largest lithium plant in Europe is to be built in a 16,000-inhabitant town in Lusatia. Lithium is considered one of the most important raw materials for building batteries for electric cars.
From 2024, enough lithium for 500,000 electric cars should be processed there. This was announced by the Rock Tech company. The company is investing 470 million euros in the factory, creating 160 jobs. Brandenburg is thus evolving from a detached state into a new industrial location for sought-after technologies.
