Why BMW boss Zipse considers the combustion ban to be harmful to the climate

More than 100 countries, cities and car manufacturers signed a declaration on emission-free mobility by 2035 at the climate summit in Glasgow. BMW refused to sign.

CEO Oliver Zipse considers a ban to be harmful to the climate and emphasized at this year’s Handelsblatt auto summit that he does not believe in a ban on internal combustion engines. The infrastructure has not yet been designed to generate sufficient electricity from renewable energies.

With editor-in-chief Sebastian Matthes, the BMW boss discussed the Group’s environmental strategy, the competition with Volkswagen and possible partnerships.
