Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko On Tuesday, it said it would make improvements to the software upgrade process to ensure network reliability and uptime.

“Delivering a fast, reliable and scalable network remains our top priority to move towards a better decentralized network,” Yakovenko said.

“The problems with last week’s 1.14 network update, which focused on speed and scale improvements, made it clear how difficult it is to maintain stability during these major updates,” he said.

Prior to version 1.14, engineers were working to fix issues affecting the speed and availability of the network, such as invalid gas metering, lack of flow control for transactions, and lack of fee markets, among other technical issues. These issues were prioritized to improve the user experience.

But after the final release, engineers plan to bring in additional external developers and auditors to find and test vulnerabilities. They will also form a rival team that makes up almost a third of Solana Labs engineering team.

Engineers will continue to support external core engineers, including Jump Crypto’s Firedancer team, which is building a second validator client.

The Solana blockchain is back to normal after the weekend outage. Problems that started as slow transactions led to an almost complete shutdown of operations in Solana.

The developers said on Monday that the cause of the network-wide outage over the weekend is still unclear, but investigations are ongoing.
