Berlin Many households in Germany have to adjust to higher heating costs. The new heating mirror from the non-profit consulting company co2online, which is available to the Handelsblatt and will be published this Tuesday, provides a more precise overview of the costs.
The main reasons for the rising heating costs are higher energy prices and, in the case of fossil fuels, the CO2 price as well, as the analysis shows. The basis for this is more than 190,000 bills for the consumption year 2021 as well as current price and weather data, which are used to forecast heating costs for the current year.
According to co2online, almost every second apartment in Germany is heated with gas, every fourth with oil. Since 2021, a price has been charged for carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the building sector in Germany, which is currently borne solely by tenants. However, higher costs can also be expected for heating with district heating, heat pumps and wood pellets in both years.
Heating costs for gas heating and oil heating significantly higher since 2021
