Frankfurt It’s no secret: If you leave the city and move to the surrounding area, you’ll live much more cheaply. But this is not the case everywhere, as figures from Immobilienscout24 show.

Market researchers from the largest German platform for residential real estate have compared the purchase and rental prices in the centers of the seven largest cities in Germany with those in their surrounding areas. They examined how much cheaper it is if you live 15 to 30, 50, 75 and 100 kilometers away from the city center.

The study shows how different the markets in the areas around Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf are and how prices have developed since the pandemic.

This is how tenants and buyers find out in which metropolises it is financially most worthwhile to move to the surrounding areas and from which city people have to go a long way to be able to live more cheaply:
