The experts see opportunities in stocks from the financial sector, among other things.

Frankfurt The year 2021 was rather mixed for investors investing in emerging markets. This was mainly due to China, which has a share of around a third in the leading MSCI EM index. The wave of regulation in the local technology sector hit the markets just as much as the problems in the real estate sector.

Emerging market equity funds, which are not very much China, were still able to achieve returns of up to 60 percent in 2021. In the coming year, however, experts also see catching-up potential in China because of the relatively low valuations that are now relatively low.

Unlike in many other countries in the world, there could also be positive impulses from the central bank. This already eased monetary policy in mid-December. In other emerging markets, on the other hand, there are opportunities from increased interest rates from which bank stocks could benefit.
