Frankfurt, Munich For buyers on the real estate market, the situation is still unfamiliar. For years they hoped in vain for falling prices. But for a few months now, asking prices have been trending downwards again for the first time after years of booming in Germany. Square meter prices are falling in almost all major German cities. This was recently shown by the evaluations of the real estate portals for the fourth quarter of 2022. However, many interested parties are still hesitant to venture into the market – also because there is great uncertainty as to how this will develop.
According to a study by DZ Bank, purchase prices for residential real estate will fall by four to six percent on average in 2023. The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) even considers a minus of up to ten percent possible in 2023.
