When is a share crisis-proof?

Dusseldorf High inflation rates, rising interest rates and uncertain future prospects unsettle investors. Does it make sense to invest in stocks in volatile times?

Not every company is prepared for the crisis. However, there are some promising titles.

“Crisis-proof companies are currently inflation-resistant companies that have high pricing power with very strong brands and outstanding products and can easily pass the rising prices on to their customers,” explains stock analyst Ulf Sommer in this episode of Handelsblatt Today.

Choosing stocks with a low price-earnings ratio (P/E) is not a suitable strategy in this case: “It’s not about stocks that have crashed and may take off again in the future, but about large corporations that are more likely to get through the crisis better than others come. And these are often stocks that aren’t necessarily cheap and therefore don’t necessarily have a low P/E ratio,” says Sommer.
