Dusseldorf It could have been so beautiful, but on the wedding morning the groom breaks a leg or some of the guests cannot travel due to a corona infection. There are plenty of reasons why a wedding celebration can suddenly burst. Many are unpredictable. And the closer the big day is, the higher the cancellation costs that the bridal couple or their parents are left with.

According to a guide from the German Savings Banks and Giro Association, the wedding couple incurs between 6,000 and 30,000 euros for everything to do with the vows: for the venue, the photographer, the musicians or the DJ, the menu, place cards and other items.

There is an obvious desire to insure yourself against the costs incurred, and there are indeed a number of insurers who offer to insure the “most beautiful day of your life” – but by no means all policies make sense. The Handelsblatt analyzed five offers.
